PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Community Farming Project was launched on 23rd May 2013. The Project is located locally and Joma village in the provinces
Primarily the Project is about setting up a forestry and farming to grow Moringa (Olifeira), initially to produce Moringa leaf powder and Moringa Oil (Ben Oil), whilst maintaining and replenishing the forest.

By developing a practical combination of environmental, social and economic interventions we are able to conserve biodiversity, whilst creating jobs that will provide income for the rural poor.
Using the farming of moringa as our main resource, sustainability will be achieved by providing education for community members; from maintenance of the crop, harvesting, production and development of a variety of products leading to setting up of small businesses with on-going support from the project.

Our organisation aims to become self supporting and an income generating business that produces a variety of products including food nutrients, soaps, fertilizer, and other health products with financial benefits to the community.
By creating economic opportunities and initiatives to the Community we also aim to reverse the local trend of deforestation.  The educational platforms that we utilize will raise awareness of the importance of tree conservation.
Moringa meets the needs of poverty, unemployment, health and malnutrition, lack of education, gender inequality and deforestation.

We aim to reduce poverty by creating employment and business opportunities, giving a profit shares to the community group. Encourage wider community to cultivate Moringa which can be purchased by the project for production.
By creating employment and business opportunities for vulnerable groups; youth and women.
Health promotion through education of the nutritional value of Moringa in daily diet, the use of which has diminished over the years in Gambia.  To provide Moringa capsules to SOS Clinic as a nutritional supplement for patients living with HIV. (Pilot study).

Promoting gender equality by empowerment of women through participation and ownership of the project, education, and setting up of small businesses.
